The Dream Center’s purpose is to reconnect isolated people to God and a community of support by providing human services that address immediate and long-term needs in the areas of homelessness, hunger, poverty, addiction, education, and human trafficking. We are building a community of overcomers, people whose lives have been redeemed by God’s love, justified by faith, and born again upon repentance and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord.


Job Purpose:

The shelter staff’s primary responsibility is to take care of the men and/or women that are coming into the Dream Center prior to joining a residential program. They make sure the residents’ physical needs are met and that they are given the space to clear their minds and make a healthy choice about their future.


Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Wash all bedding and make sure shelter is ready for new intakes
  • Meet with walk-ins when needed
  • Conduct searches upon entry
  • Make sure each resident has clothing and toiletries upon arrival
  • Write and turn in a detailed shift report each day
  • Ensure residents are given the support they need should they be detoxing
  • Maintain cleanliness of shelter and that both shelters stay stocked
  • Monitor their phone calls
  • Answers hotline phone on rotation
  • On call for emergency intakes and emergency shelter stays
  • Attends human trafficking outreach as needed
  • Ensure all paperwork is filled out if they are entering another Dream Center program
  • Meet with the Director of Intake/Emergency Shelters weekly or bi-weekly (as requested)

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • CPR Certified
  • Narcan certified
  • Mental health first aid certified
  • Able to clear all applicable background checks

  • Possess a certain level of emotional and spiritual maturity
  • Able to naturally connect with people from diverse backgrounds
  • Able to work flexibly and efficiently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Efficient in Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Calendar
  • Strong work ethic
  • Strong sense of empathy
