Dear Friend,
Just a few days ago, I was walking through MacArthur Park when I met a man who looked like he had been wandering for hours—maybe even days. Tired, disoriented, worn down by life. I simply asked him, “How’s everything going?”
His response was blunt:
“I just want to slap someone.”
Without thinking, I looked him in the eyes and said,
“Well, if you’re going to slap someone, slap me.”
He stopped. Stared. And then—he laughed.
Right there, something shifted. That one laugh led to a conversation about life, about pain, and eventually, about God. That single moment reminded me of what The Dream Center has always been about.
For 31 years, we’ve been showing up for moments just like that.
Now, we are just two weeks away from Night of Dreams—our biggest fundraising event of the year, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel. This night carries so much weight, not just for keeping the mission going, but for expanding—adding more beds, reaching more people, helping more tired, wandering souls like the man in the park.
From September 3–17, every donation we receive will go toward a special opening total we will reveal during the event—a virtual “first offering” that will inspire the entire room.
You can donate today, tomorrow, or anytime over the next 14 days.
But please, as you read this, would you pray—and consider being part of something that could change a life forever?
Thank you for standing with us.
With gratitude,
Matthew Barnett
